Operational Data Modeling is a new approach to interpreting and
analyzing your data. Data models have traditionally been used to
design transactional information systems such as Enterprise Resource
Planning (ERP) systems. Data models are also key components in building
Enterprise wide datawarehouses.
Our approach is to develop what we have termed the Operational Data
Model. This is a change not only in the time-relevance of your data,
but also the scope of your data. Following a proven process-analysis
methodology, we construct a view of your data that reflects your day
to day (operational) data reporting needs from a departmental
standpoint. This differs dramatically from the strategic or tactical
data needs of an entire enterprise.
We believe a well constructed Operational Data Model and state of the
art tools to interact with that model finally empower managers and
users alike to meet goals and timelines set in strategic and tactical
planning. All too often this gap has been overlooked and accounts
for many of the cost over-runs or delays associated with meeting
strategic goals.
